Day 1
Set aside three days to ensure you take back the best souvenirs of La Heroica, with our recommendations for where you should go for a delightful mix of culture, gastronomy, cocktails and architecture.

8:00 A.M.
Start your day right with the Typique breakfast at La Brioche, served with scrambled eggs with tomatoes and onions, a cheese and chorizo arepa, and a refreshing ‘corozo’ juice. Then meander a bit around Mall Plaza.

10:00 A.M.
Have a shopping stroll through Bocagrande and visit Caribe Jewelry and the Emerald Museum, where you can learn about the quality and purity of this stunning green gem and marvel at some exotic varieties.

1:00 P.M.
Get familiarized with the historic center’s cobblestone streets, before making a pit stop to learn about the magical world of chocolate in the fascinating workshop offered by ChocoMuseo.

3:00 P.M.
Hop on a bike and calm your cravings for a good fish soup or mouthwatering fried fish with coconut rice and plantain fritters with a visit to Palo Santo Restaurant, set in the walled city.

8:00 P.M.
Inspired by local flavors, Carmen’s contemporary cuisine is great for dinner; or grab a table at Moshi, a Japanese restaurant which uses produce from the Caribbean coast and boasts a range of unique cocktails.

Day 2

8:00 A.M.
Head out from the Torre del Reloj and set sail, past Barú’s bridge, to the aviary, a national sanctuary that’s home to over 1,800 birds.

11:00 A.M.
Make a beeline for the Islas del Encanto hotel in the Corales del Rosario National Park, and spend a day enjoying its facilities, 300-meter stretch of beach, swimming pools, outdoor spa and ‘à-la-carte restaurant’.

2:00 P.M.
Wander amongst the Mudejar architecture of the Middle Eastern-style houses in Manga, Cartagena’s oldest neighborhood. Visit Cartagena Food Truck Station and take your pick from one of 13 options.

5:00 P.M
Admire the sunset as you while away the afternoon on the Townhouse Rooftop bar, or take a stroll along the ancient seafront walls and bastions and enjoy the music at Café del Mar.

8:00 P.M
It’s cocktail night at La Heroica, and time to try a range of different mixes, (see what El Santísimo offers) refreshing and spiced, smooth and herby, silky and playful.

Day 3

8:00 A.M.
For today’s breakfast, choose from one of Cartagena’s most iconic local delicacies: egg arepas, ‘carimañolas’ and other fried treats, which you can pick up at Mila.

10:00 A.M.
Pay a visit to the Zenú Gold Museum, the Palace of the Inquisition, the Santo Domingo Convent and the San Pedro Claver museum and church, and marvel at the architecture of a great many squares and churches.

1:00 P.M.
Feast on another local culinary delight in Anandá Hotel Boutique: Cartagena topside beef. End on a sweet note with coconut, ‘panela’, nougat sweets or a delicious coconut flan at Mila.

5:00 P.M.
It’s teatime at the Hotel Sofitel Legend Santa Clara, with a number of options ranging from hot chocolate and pastries made by Saint Claire nuns to French pastries with a local touch.

11:00 P.M.
After a delicious experience at María, make your way to Café Havana to enjoy an authentic Caribbean atmosphere accompanied by some sumptuous mojitos and the sounds of live salsa and Cuban son music.
