Cartagena restaurants: a festival for the senses

We started the year with festivals. The Hay Festival was a huge success, but still Cartagena has more to offer. Do you already know which restaurants you want to visit? Not to worry, we have selected the very latest offerings from some of the best and most exciting restaurants for your visit to Cartagena.

Colette

This classic French bistro offers you traditional dishes, rooted in the culinary techniques of the most famous cuisine in the world.

If you visit between noon and 3pm, Tuesday to Saturday, you can enjoy their Formule déjeuner or Lunch Special. The idea is that you choose your own combination within two ($28,000) or three courses ($36,000). From Hors d’Oeuvres, choose Chicken liver paté or Vegetable quiche; the plat principal  includes Rôti chicken with potato skins and salad, or Ravioli stuffed with a purée of peas and goat cheese, orellana mushrooms with hazelnut and sage butter.

For dessert, opt for a Lemongrass crème brulèe or an Apple crumble. The idea is that the experience will transport you to France while at the same time enjoying the excellent atmosphere, best classic cocktails and excellent wines in Cartagena.

El Santísimo

For 21 years, this iconic restaurant has fused French cuisine with Caribbean ingredients, such as their posta cartagenera (Colombian-style black beef), which is the best in the city.

They are offering a pairing menu that is well worth seeking out. With the ‘plan Bodega’, you can select your starter, main course and dessert; and then each dish will be matched with Tempranillo and/or Macabeo wines from Requena – two excellent young Spanish wines. The price per person is $105,000.
